The First at Number 10 ...



As you all no doubt know by now David Cameron was asked to form a new government by no other than Queen Elisabeth 2nd, this is all part of the British protocol, and he accepted on Tuesday evening . What you have probably not heard yet is his first speech as Prime Minister!

Special dates in the month of March




All in all March is quite a busy month as far as memorable dates and events are concerned. I have picked out a few of them suggested by a friend and colleague on her site (thanks SJB for this great work ) and I hope you will appreciate it as much as I do.


The first important date concerns us females, yes March 8th , International Women's day.

Then within a week, or just under, on March 14th there is Mothering Sunday. Don't forget the flowers and chocolates you girls and guys! I'm sure your mums will much apprecuiate them!


If, however, you can't afford a bunch of flowers mums are usually partial to a nice verse like the one you can see below.

The Copenhagen Summit



This next week, on December 12th, many of the leaders of the world will be meeting in Copenhagen to try to come to some form of agreement about what to do to save the planet.



As you can see, in the very impressive photo on the left, we need to put out the fire before it's too late.

You can read more about what is going on in the site below. Don't forget it's your world too so everyone should do his bit!

How are the leaders and other participants travelling to Copenhagen? Read the article on the BBC site below and see if you come to the same conclusion as I did! Some people, it seems, need to practice what they preach, !!!!!


Then try the next document and see what you think of it. I honestly had to read it a few times to really understand what was being suggested! Reducing the world population to stop our carbon footprint sounds quite sensible however when we understand that it is the countries who are polluting the most who should be providing contraceptive means to the poorer countries which don't do a great deal of polluting in the first place . It goes beyond my understanding, I,m afraid !

Anyway, see what you make of it.

Thanks Giving

This Thursday is Thanks Giving if you didn't already know. So here are two videos of quite a different nature to tell you about it. I would like to wish all of my American readers a very happy day!

The second video is not as serious but just as interesting . There will be , on Thursday a ceremony held at the White House where one turkey gets off scot-free I do hope for Gloria Gaynor's sake she is that turkey!!!!!

Edward Kennedy, Ted to his family and friends, died yesterday of a brain tumour. He had been suffering for quite a while but went out with a fight.

Sonia Sotomayor, breaking yet another barrier !




Can you imagine, here is a first ! A Latino as a Supreme Court Judge !

This act shows good faith on the part of OBAMA and if we think about the Gus Garcia experience ( see the American Experience documentary ), the first immigrant of Mexican origin to plead in the Supreme Court in 1954 ..... although it has taken 55 years a fellow Latino ( of Portorican origin ) has finally made it to the top of her profession !!!
As the saying goes , ' Where there is hope there is life, where there's a will there's a way !'

Eclipse July 2009

What a lovely sight , this partial eclipse next to the Golden Temple in Amrista, India .

Lady Liberty's Anniversary


Well apparently Lady Liberty has been given a new lease of life, her crown has been fixed and visits which stopped after 9/11 have begun again, and the birthday of the Nation is to be celebrated there on July 4th ! Think of all the symbols that entails !!!


Well we can only join in the singing and rejoicing by wishing Her and the States all the best and many years to come !
