Week 32 Monday June 4th-9th 2012

This week you continued working on your revision subjects . You had your 'conseil' so now it's up to you.

I'll keep my fingers crossed for you all!

Week 29 Monday May 14th-19th 2012

We managed to see eachother once this week after a month without lessons, not of my own choice of course, and I had hoped you would have viewed the mini videos I'd asked you to but no......no one had taken the time to watch them! So we began ploughing through the videos.

We will continue this work next Tuesday, but if it is not too much to ask, please watch Nixon's confessions before then.

Week 26 Tuesday April 10th-14th 2012

This week we spent the two hours pulling together the information about Nixon then we started viewing the video of his resignationspeech which we'd already discussed. Seeing it really showed a different perspective to the written word!

Continue viewing the video documents and be ready to discuss them when we next meet on Wednesday May 10th.

Week 25 Monday April 2nd-7th 2012

During the two hours we had class last week we started a new sequence on the former American President, Richard Nixon. Having introduced the topic by a photo and a brainstorming, which didn't lead to much information, you started working on four different documents, in groups. We began pulling together this information before listening to his resignation, confessions and then viewing a part of a doc film about the whole affair.

Be ready to exchange next Tuesday. I will not be in school on Wednesday April 11th. Due to the spring holidays and then my absences during the first week of May, because of the European section oral exams,
here are copies of the oral documents I'd like you to study. I'll give you indications of what to be looking out for in class next week.

NIXON'S RESIGNATION

NIXON'S CONFESSIONS

FROST'S PROGRAMME

ENJOY!

Week 24 Monday March 26th-31st 2012

This week we only saw each other two hours because of the Cambridge exam I was invigilating with the Fifth form European Section. Sorry about that but the date and time are fixed nationally.

During the first lesson we atlast went over the mock exam then in Wednesday's lesson you had your written test.

See you next week.

Week 21 Monday March 5th-10th 2012

This week was not really a success, was it. Because of your noise, chatting and general misbehaviour I spent more time reprimanding you than really teaching you. I am afraid this will not do! You all have qualities which need to be developed and this can only be done by regular work, your attention and my guidance.

Any way we managed to finish off one of the documents about gun violence, Bowling for Columbine, and a second orally, Childhood's end.

For next lesson you have been asked to write a short summary of what you have understood about the second document, Childhood's end and to watch the cartoon extract from Michael Moore's film, Bowling for Columbine.

For those of you not travelling either to England or to Spain next week, have a good time in La Courneuve.

Gun Violence

Unfortunately it has happened again, ' it ' being a gun shooting in an American high school. To find out more go to the address below. You will find three dialogues from first hand witnesses, victims and actors of the shooting as well as the article. It really makes you wonder what the world is coming to, doesn't it?

Week 18 Monday January 23rd-28th 2012

This week we finished off the sequence on Immigration the you had a CE and EE bac style on the very subject in preparation for your mock exams in two weeks time.

Week 16 Monday 9th-14th January 2012

This week we continued working on Immigration by exchanging the information we had found in the two different texts. We then started working on The Threshold of a New World, by Mark Helprin. We introduced it then worked throiugh it bit by bit. You have to finish off reading the text for homework and complete the exercises 1-5 on the work sheet I gave you.

Week 15 Tuesday January 3rd_7th 2012

Having made our resolutions we went over the last comprehension test and commented on your dialogues.

We then moved on to a new sequence namely Immigration to the USA. Once we'd finished off the introductory work you'd started before the holidays we did an information sharing activity. You were given two different texts which you had to read in two groups then question each other to find out what your information was. One of the texts was about the waves of immigration and the other dealt with the practices on Ellis island.

You managed to find the general info from each text.

Week 14 Monday Dec 12th-17th 2011

Due to your class evaluations we only had one session todather in which you did a written comprehension on the subject of the cinema. The sequence is now complete.

Have a restful yet cheerful holiday!

Week 13 Monday Dec 5th-10th 2011

This week we started working on a new sequence on Tuesday then on Wednesday you had your EE/PE dialogue style.

Next Tuesday morning you'll have a CE concerning the cinema.

Week 12 Monday Nov 28th- Dec 3rd 2011

This week we started working on how to write a dialogue. Yes, you will have to write one nextTuesday.
We went into the multimedia room and started working on films, reviews and trailers from the three main film industries. In your dialogue you will be deciding, with friends, the next film you will be going to see and why.

Don't forget to look again at the sheet I gave you, and which we spoke about in class, indicating how to write and punctuate a dialogue, British style. The contents of your dialogue are equally important so finish off the research I gave you to do.

Don't forget the news items: Eva will give her talk on Tuesday morning and Catherine on Wednesday.

Week 11 Monday Nov 21st-25th 2011

This week we started by exchanging information about the three main film industries then we studied the text entitled , Welcome to Nollywood.

You seem to have understood the text fairly well, which is a good sign. However, some of you are still relying on the others to do the work. Join in and become more responsible, you are all capable!

Don't forget to learn the lessons and do the matching exercises for next Tuesday.

Week 10 Monday 14th-18th 2011

This week I gave you back the CE on Steve Jobs, which we went over then we started working on a new sequence namely The Cinema Industries.

Having started comparing the different industries I asked you to do a bit more research into the subject.

We'll continue with this next lesson.

Week 9 Monday Nov 7th-12th 2011

What a difficult week some on you seem to have had because of the CE on a news subject which I had promised you before the Halloween holidays and the EE cover letter which I said you could prepare at home!!!!

Next week we will be starting on a new theme. I hope that Romain and Nassr-Edin are ready for their current events topic.

Week 6 Monday Oct 10th - 19th 2011

This week, once we had listened to Houleye's news item report, we started working on the Gap Year by trying to guess what it was then listening to a definition.

We then started working on a text around the same subject. We will pick this up next week. Don't forget that you have to highlight the benefits and traps of a gap year as stated in the article.

Week 5 Monday Oct 3rd - 8th 2011

This week I gave back the tests you had done and we went over The Fun They Had so that you
became aware of what is expected of you when doing a CE.

On Wednesday we listened to a report about Amy Winehouse's career, life and death.

Don't forget that Houleye has to prepare a news item for next week , Indra the week after.

Week 4 Monday Sept 26th-Oct 1st 2011

On Tuesday we worked around the Summer review then on Wednesday you had your test on Classroom English, the 10 commandments and instructions.

I'll talk to you about this and your CE, 'The Fun They Had', Asimov next week.

Week 3 Monday September 19th-23rd 2011

We only saw each other twice this week due to my meeting on Wednesday. Sorry about that.
In the first lesson we went over classroom English then started working on the Summer Review.

The second lesson was taken up by the CE test. We will talk more about this next week.
