Week 31 Monday May 26th - 31st 2014

This week we gave back your last test and commented on it then continued working on the organisation of the British Monarchy and the government before viewing and commenting on a painting of Charles 1st in the House of Commons when the Members of Parliament refused to hand over five of their members who were accused of treason.  This was the beginning of the Revolution, and the subsequent fall of the King.

There will only be one class next week due to your 'conseil' on Wednesday.

Week 30 Monday May 19th - 24th 2014

This week you worked on the differences between the Catholic Church and the Anglican Church then we started on The English Revolution.
You have some questions to answer for next Wednesday when we'll continue on the subject.

Week 29 Monday May 12th - 17th 2014

This week you were working on the Anglican Church compared to the Catholic one by doing some reseach in the mm lab. Then on Friday you had a test on portraits and the symbols there in.

Week 27 Monday April 28th - Saturday May 3rd 2014

This week started on a new topic, symbols of the Kings and Queens of England, by describing their paintings. You will have a test on May 16th.

I am rather disappointed at the lack of scrapbooks which have been handed in:  6/49 is not even 10%!!!
I gave you five weeks, holidays included so I really can't accept this situation.

I will not be in school next week due to the Euro Section oral exams.

Week 25 Monday March 31st - Saturday April 5th 2014

This week we didn't have many classes because I was out on Friday marking part of your Cambridge exams, well not yours exactly but those of other pupils in the Parisian region.

You did your sketches on San Fransisco. Some of them were rather funny indeed!

For those of you who went on the school trip don't forget to work on your scrapbooks, the promotioal clip for the section and your choice of strange or unusual photos for after the holidays.

Week 24 Monday March 24th - 29th 2014

This week we finished off th ework on San Fransisco by reading about earthquakes especially the great one in 1906. On Friday a few groups performed the final task on this topic.

The rest of you should be ready for next Wednesday.

Week 22 Monday March 10th - 15th , 2014

This week you continued for 20 minutes your preparation of your group activity exercise on San Francisco then we started watching a video clip on the same subject. We will continue with this after the educational/cultural trip to York.

On Friday there was the exchange activity .

You also had to search for information about a background song we heard along with viewing the above mentioned video namely Sitting on the Dock of the Bay by Otis Redding. Don't forget to look it up and do a bit of research on Motown records!

Week 20 Monday February 10th - 15th 2014

After an exchange activity on Wednesday about San Fransisco you continued working on Friday , in three groups on this coastal city. We will pick this up on March 12th. Don't forget that the first week back there will be no Euro session since we are evaluating our Upper sixth pupils in mock oral exams.

You have however things to be getting on with.

Week 19 Monday February 3rd - 8th 2014

This week you had an evaluation on the Middle Ages on Wednesday then we started working on San Fransisco on Friday.

We'll pick this up next week so please be ready.

Week 18 Monday January 27th - February 1st 2014

This week there was only one lesson in which we finished off the work on the Middle Ages and the Magna Carta.
You will have a test on this chapter next Wednesday. Those doing Latin have their outing on the 12th Feb so there's no excuse for not being in class!

Week 17 Monday January 20th-25th 2014

This week we continued working on the feudal system and anarchy. We started studying an extract of the Magna Carta which you have to finish for next Wednesday.

Don't forget the five point question which is:
What was the name of Prince John's brother, the King who died during the second Crusades in Palastine and who in Robin Hood came back to save the country from anarchy?  

Week 16 Monday January 13th - 18th 2014

This week you finished working on the extracts from Pillars of the Earth on Wednesday. You almost came to the conclusion that it was a period of Anarchy but saved by the bell again we didn't quite finish this off!

We'll pick it up next week and continue on the Magna Carta.

You had an evaluation on the Irish on Friday.

Week 15 Monday January 6th - 11th January 2014

Welcome back and Happy New Year!

Having finished off the work on the Irish immigrants in the USA we started on the Middle Ages in GB? quite a change, eh?

You defined the Middles Ages rather well then stated your connections with this period in history. On Friday we started viewing Pillars of the Earth, a film based on Ken Follet's trilogy.

We will continue with this next Wednesday.

You have a test on the Irish on Friday.

Week 13 Monday December 9th - 14th 2013

This week you almost completed the work on the Irish in America. There are one or two documents yet to be seen.

On Friday we worked on your Cambridge exam, the oral comprehension and the written expression.
We will finish this off another time then work on the written comprehension.

Good luck next week in your exams though you shouldn't need it if you've been working regularly!

Week 11 Monday November 25th - 30th 2013

This week we continued working on the Irish song about immigration in order to introduce the topic. We found out why the Irish emigrated at this time then began looking at some different documents on the number of inhabitants, the increase and decrease of the population and the possible reasons.
You have to finish this work for next Friday.

Don't forget that we are in your 'conseils' both on Tuesday afternoon and  Wednesday morning so there are no classes, either English or Euro.

Week 10 Monday November 18th - 23rd 2013

This week we started working on your Cambridge Exam then on Friday we began a new chapter on Ireland. You have to read the lyrics of the song again, make sure you understand them and be ready to explain each verse for next time.

Week 9 Tuesday November 12th - 16th 2013

This week you finished off the work on the Anglo-Saxon food system. You have to write an essay on this subject which should  be ready for Wednesday November 27th.

On Friday you had a test on Geography vocabulary.

Week 8 Monday November 4th - 9th 2013

This week we continued working on the Anglo-Saxon food industry. There are a few questions to finish off so let's hope we'll get through these soon. Don't forget the vocab test you'll be having next week on all the words and expressions you should know to help you in your lessons.

Week 7 Monday October 14th - 19th 2013

This week we finished off working on Super Size Me then attacked some documents concerning the Anglo-Saxon food industry. A half of you had not done certain exercises we'd requested of you. Make sure you do those we've ask for after the holidays or else you'll be getting some extra work!!!!

Jaimie, the assistant, came to meet you. Certain pupils will be working with her until January on the YEAR BOOK/ BLOG.

I also talked to you about the trip to York ( March 16th- 21st 2014 ), the Multicultural party Tuesday November 12th  and the Coat of Arms competition.

This week we continued working on the dvd Super Size Me. You worked well arguing certain points raised in the movie.

I do hope your participation wasn't due to the parent-teachers meeting we had on Saturday though!
