This week we finished off the work on the Anglican church then gave you your averages. We then handed you your summer work and gave you the opportunity of telling us what you had thought of this last year. Some of your comments were very constructive, thank you.

Week 30 Monday May 21st-26th 2012
This week you started with a test on the Absolute Monarchy and how it was represented in paintings. We then began going over the work on Anglicanism. This will be continued next week.

Only one lesson this week in which you finished doing your research on Henry 8th and Anglicanism.
Next Monday 21st you have an evaluation on the interpretation of a painting, just as we did in class. You will be asked certain questions to guide you so don't worry.
Next Thursday we will go over your research to make sure you've found everything you should have!

Week 28 Monday May 7th - 12th 2012
This week we continued working on the paintings of Henry 8th and Charles 1st. You will have a test on Monday 21st. You started working on Anglicanism too.
Week 27 Monday April 30th - May 5th 2012
This week we finished off evaluating two groups on San Fransisco then started on the next topic in history: Henry 8th.
Your sketches were extremely entertaining on the whole. We hope that some of you will accompany us to the Middle Schools to show them what you do in the section.
You have to prepare the work on the painting of Henry 8th for Monday May 7th.
We will not be in any other lessons next week due to the European Section Exam.

Week 26 Tuesday April 10th-14th 2012
This week you presented your sketches on San Fransisco. Some of them werte extremely lively and musical. There are two groups who have to pass yet so we will see them on Monday April 30th.
We could very well ask a few of you to accompany us to our mocal middle schools to show the pupils what we do in the European section.

Week 25 Monday April 2nd-7th 2012
We had class only once this week due to your Cambridge orals on Monday. You continued preparing your group work on San Fransisco which you have to share with us next Thursday, April 12th. Please be ready.
Week 24 Monday March 26th-31st 2012
This week we finished off the work on San Fransisco by studying then singing On the Dock of the Bay, by Otis Redding. Some of you obviously appreciate this type of music. What good taste you have!
Then we talked about the Saint Andreas Fault and the Great Frisco Quake. That must have been awesome. Can you imagine such an experience? Some of you, apparently had already experienced minor earthquakes and had been scared out of your wits!!!
You have to create a sketch, a mini play, to give back all the information you have learnt in the course of this sequence about San Fransisco. You will have one hour to work in class together next week but don't forget that on Monday April 2nd there is no class because of your Cambridge orals so most of you will beable to make the most of this time spell to work together too.
We will start noting your work on Thursday, April 9th.

Week 23 Monday March 19th-24th 2012
This week we started by talking about our trip to England, to inform those who hadn't gone of what we'd seen and done. We then continued with the work on San Francisco by viewing a video clip in which we could see the town and certain economical activities, especially thosqe on the coast. Having talked about this and realising that a lot of the activities are now found in land for instance Silicon valley, we listened to the song, Sitting on the Dock of the Bay, by Otis Reading.
You have to be ready with your interpretation of this song for next week and be able to sing it too!

Week 21 Monday March 5th-10th 2012
This week we recapped our general information about San Francisco then started exchanging more info in a question answer exercise. We will have to finish this and going over the text about the Chinese immigrants in particular.

This week we only had one hour of class in which we started on a new chapter, San Fransisco, an example of a coastal town. We started by situating it physically then brainstormed what we already know about the town and it's surroundings.

This week you finished off quite a lot of work, your reports, and short detective stories. We exchanged the information found in each groups story by doing our own detective work, and gave back our summaries. Well done !

We only had class once this week due to the mock oral exams. Our history teacher was on a course too so we finished off the work we had to do to prepare our Cambridge Certification exam in March.
There is no class on Monday so we will see each other in the section next Thursday.

This week we finished off the work on the Magna Carta then you had an evaluation on the English Monarchy during the Middle Ages.

This week we worked on both the Feudal system and the period known as Anarchy in the UK before moving on to an extract from the Magna Carta, signed by King John in 1215.

This week we continued working around Ken Follet's The Pillars of the Earth, then we branched out and tried to talk more general about the different categories of people and their relationships. You were given some exercises to do for Monday.

This week we started on, a new chapter namely The Middle Ages . In order to do so we watched the first part of The Pillars of the Earth , adapted from Ken Follet's novel of the same name. You could or would not give your impressions and comments so we asked you to note them down first then a few of you managed to give them back to us. Review the part of the film we saw and be ready to talk about it next lesson.

You had both lessons this week in which you studied another song about the Irish, this time though it was about the way they were sometimes discriminated against in the USA.

Week 13 Monday 5th-10th 2011
This week we worked on the song about Skibberean, in Ireland. You didn't really appreciate the first version of the song we played to you because of the apparent boredom it brought about. However, once you began to understand the lyrics you felt a bit warmer towards the song and on hearing the second interpretation you were convinced of the interest such a song could bring you! Some of you were even touched by it!!!!
We then started working on written documents concerning the immigration of the Irish, the causes and consequences. We will continue with this next week. Don't forget to look at nos 4+5 for Monday.
