Week 34 Monday May 30th-June 4th 2011

This week we finished listening to your speeches about Damien's evolution in the Irish Political Problem then on Tuesday you did an essay on the Repartition of the population, immigrant and national,in the United Kingdom

This was of course your last evaluation of the year.

Next Monday we will give you back your copies and comment then finish off the work on Churchill's speech. You can find this easily on You Tube.

Talking about speeches have any of you seen this film yet? You should try to see it if possible. It might even give a few of you food for thought!

Week 33 Monday May 23rd-28th 2011

This week we listened to your speeches on The Evolution of Damien in the Irish Political Situation. There are two groups left to hear. As well as this we started listening to Sir W Churchill's famous speech in which he rallied the British to the war effort. We will continue with this next week too.

Don't forget your written test on Tuesday about the Repartition of Immigrants in the United Kingdom. (Thanks Sana ! )

Week 32 Monday 16th-21st May 2011

This week we worked around the repartition of the population in the United Kingdom. You will have to write about this on Tuesday 31st May.

Next week you have the speeches to make about Damien and his evolution in the Irish Struggle.

Week 31 Monday May 9th-14th 2011

This week we worked around and finished off the topic of The Wind that Shakes the Barley by Ken Loach.

In groups, you will have to prepare a talk on The Evolution of Damien in this Crisis with other historical elements to back up your findings. Due to your EAF mock exams next week we have given you an extra week to prepare so please be ready!

This coming week we will be working on a new topic which you had to start preparing. See you on Monday.

Week 30 Monday May 2nd - 7th 2011

This week, after our initial recap, we started working on the film The Wind that Shakes the Barley by Ken Loach.

We worked around two episodes, scene setting and looking for more details as to the general situation in Eire.

Be ready to give this back to us in the recap next week.

Week 29 Tuesday 26th-30th April 2011

We only saw each other once this week due to the Easter bank holiday Monday. Once we'd talked about your last speeches we corrected the work on the Bristish Colonies we had asked you to do.

We will be continuing in the same vein next week.

Week 25 Monday March 28th- April 2nd 2011

This week we finished off your speeches on the place of GB in the European Union. Some of them were not bad at all. Do be careful however when talking about documents, giving dates, as to the pronunciation of certain words such as 'asylum' , to the tenses used and so on. We will resume the work after the Spring holidays. For those who went to Ireland don't forget to hand in your scrapbook ASAP! You will lose 20 points for your team if not!!!!

Week 24 Monday March 21st- 26th 2011

This week we started off by telling those who hadn't been on the trip to Ireland about our experiences. Quite a lot of feelings and reactions came out of this informal exchange!

We then went on to listen to your speeches about The U.K. and its place in Europe. The rest of the groups have to pass next week so please be ready!

Week 21 Monday Feb 28th -Mars 5th 2011

This week we continued and more or less finished off the work on It's a Free World . You seem to have enjoyed the film and have understood the difficulties of Angie and Rose. Whether you agree with their behaviour is of course another question!

Week 20 Monday Feb 7th-12th

This week we started working on It's a Free World, a film by Ken Loach, a British director. We will continue with this work after the holidays.

On Tuesdays lesson some of you gave speeches about The UK in the European Centre. Some were quite promising!

Don't forget to sort out your papers, Carte Vitale Européenne and so on if you are travelling with us to Ireland in March.

Week 19 Monday Jan 29th - Feb 5th 2011

This week we finished off the work on the European centres on which you have to prepare an organised speech for next Tuesday. Several of you will be passing infront of the class on this subject.

Then we gave you back your test on the artistic movements and commented. Next Monday we'll be starting a new topic.

Week 17 Monday January 17th-22nd 2011

This week we started talking about the place of England in the European space. You have some exercises to finish of for January 31st.

In Tuesday's session you had your test on the artistic movements of the Industrial Revolution period.

Week 16 Monday January 10th-17th 2011

This week we finished off the work on the artistic movements influenced by The Industrial Revolution namely Realism, Impressionism,Symbolism and Avant-Garde.

You will have a test next Tuesday in which you will be given a painting to describe and analyse.

Week 15 Monday January 3rd - 8th 2011

This week we worked on certain artistic movements of the Industrial Revolution Period such as the Romantics and the Realists.

We studied various paintings, described them and then tried to pull together the characteristics of the different gendres. You were asked to define Realism for next Monday.

Week 13 Monday Dec 6th-11th 2010

This week we continued in the theme of industialisation by viewing parts of the film Oliver Twist. You had to say in what way the film illustrated the industrial revolution period.
You will be continuing with this next week.

On Tuesday, however, you did your first individual speech infront of two classmates and marked each other. You will be given the marks next week.

I will not be there so I'd like to wish you all the best for the fastly approaching festive season. See you next year!

Week 12 Monday Nov 29th - Dec 4th 2010

This week has been an Industrialisation week in which we discussed the causes and consequences of this revolution in Great Britain.

You will have an evaluation on this work next Tuesday in the salle de réunion so please come ready.

On Monday we will be seeing the effects of this revolution through the film Oliver Twist, based on the novel by Charles Dickens .

Week 11 Monday Nov 22nd-27th 2010

This week you spent one lesson doing the debate on the British and Europe then we started on the period of Industrialisation.
Some of you had really workeds well and gave some very pertinent arguments. However others just satisfied themselves with regurgitating the lesson, which did prove they had understood it, don't get me wrong, but didn't show much initiative on your part!

Be ready to answer the questions you were asked to prepare on Monday!

Week 10 Monday Nov 15-20 2010

This last week you spent some time preparing for you debate on Europe in the computer room. We were there to help, advise and guide you whenever necessary.

Four of you went to work with Dani on Monday . The topics you coverin these sessions are to be news subjects; in this way you will keep up to date with what is going on in the world, learn some new, useful and interesting vocabulary as well as be able to use this general knowledge in different relevant lessons.

So I advise you to take notes and to learn the vocab as you go along, it can't hurt you!

Week 9 Monday 8th-13th Nov 2010

I only saw a few of you during the Cambridge and language ceremony this week. Congratulations to all of you for the good work you did!

I know however that you worked with Dani, our American assistant on Mondayand did some research into the attitude of the British todays joining or not wholeheartedly the European Union. You will have another lesson to prepare before your final debate on Tuesday.

I HOPE THAT YOU WILL HAVE RECEIVED AN EMAIL FROM YOUR AMERICAN CORRESPONDENT BY THE TIME YOU READ THIS POST. My colleague has passed on your addresses to his pupils and I hoipe that they will write to you very soon. Write in English as much as possible, they are supposed to be writing in French. Keep me informed of the progress!

Week 7 Monday October 18th-23rd 2010

We didn't see each other at all in class this week because of the blockadesor atleast not many of you! Four of you managed to make it, thanks, and made the most of the assistant's presence.

However you should be aware that there is your OFFICIAL CEREMONY for the Cambridge Certificates on Tuesday November 9th at 18.00 in the auditorium.

I have your results so you can contact me via my email if you want them beforehand.

I will not be in school for lessons on the 8th or the 9th but your history /geography teacher will be! I will be there for the celebration though.

Our JEUNE AMBASSADRICE will be keeping us up to date about her trip to the US when she gets back too!
