Week 32 Monday June 3rd- 8th 2013

I was delighted to have seen a few of you this week and hope that your English will help you obtain your end of High school diploma.

Keep calm and don't forget what we did in class. You can do it just prove it!

Week 31 Monday May 27th - June 1st 2013

This week we worked around your written expression.

 IT SEEMS TO HAVE BEEN A USEFUL EXERCISE SINCE MOST OF YOU HAD FORGOTTEN HOW TO PRESENT A DIALOGUE!!!

We will continue this practical work next week.

Week 30 Monday May 20th - 25th 2013

I only saw about 50% of the class this week. We are trying to work on written comprehension and expression exercises but with your other exam subjects you are not really concentrated on the task at hand. I hope that after your orals on Monday you will be more attentive.

Week 29 Monday May 13th - 18th 2013

This week we started working around your written exam by concentrating on some written comprehension work together. Finish off what we were doing so we can continue more quickly next week.

Week 27 Monday April 15th - 20th 2013

This week we spent 3 hours working solely on your orals, the notions, the docueants you could use to define these and your personal opinions.

Be ready next Friday for a rehearsal of your final oral exam when you willpick out one of the notions and speak about it for 5 minutes.

Week 26 Monday April 8th - 13th 2013

There were no lessons this week because of your exams.

Week 24 Monday march 25th - 30th 2013

This week you were extremely agitated so our progress was slow. We managed to get into the notion of Idea of Progress however and you are to prepare your 5 ' speech about this for the next lesson.  Choose your documents well and don't forget that you can also refer to Minority Report.

Week 23 Monday March 18th - 23rd 2013

This week we went over your last evaluation then started on the notion of Ideas of Progress by describing, interpreting and analysing a visual document. Having started thus we moved on to an extract of Aldous Huxley's A Brave New World in which the Bokanovsky process of creating clones was described.

We compared and contrasted the visual and the text.

Don't forget that next week you have your CO on Thursday afternoon. Be ready!

Week 22 Monday February 25th - March 2nd 2013

This week was an end of sequence and CO week so you spent much of your time writing. Don't forget to listen to as much English as possible during the holidays since during the second week back you will have your first English test, CO.

Have a good holiday but work too!

Week 21 Monday February 18th - 23rd 2013

This week we worked around three visual documents by Banksy, Chappatte and a Fairtrade poster, all showing the differences between the north and the south as well as offering possible solutions.

The film, Inside Job , was likewise on the agenda. The notion Location and forms of power was very prevalent in our minds this week.

You will be having your CO mock exam on Tuesday then you will be continuing through the week with a CE concerning the last sequence studied in class. Please be ready!

Week 20 Monday February 112th - 16th 2013

We only saw each other once this week and we went over the TLV1 mock exam paper.
Be ready to talk about the World is Flat and Inside Job, next week.

Weeks 18, 19 Monday January 21st - February 9th

Due to the mock exams both written and oral you have only had one class in this period. I asked you to think about the title, The World is Flat and try to imagine the connection with the two texts we studied for next time.

Don't forget there is a cinema session on Monday afternoon. You should write a brief summary of the film with your opinion and the notion it is linked with.

Week 17 Monday January 22nd - 27th 2013

This week we worked on the summary of the poem by B Zephaniah then we did a text info sharing exercise on The World is Flat. This needs to be continued next time which will be Tuesday February 5th. Don't forget that on Monday, February 11th we will be at L'Etoile from 14-17 for the last film in our VO project.

Week 16 Monday January 14th - 19th 2013

What a slow week we had. You were not really into the work at all So we wasted a lot of precious time diddling about over nothing! You must really get down to something more serious. I asked you to finish off the questions on the Zephaniah poem for next week. Make sure you do!

Week 15 Monday January 7th - 12th 2013


This week, having given back your last tests and gone over them we started the New Year by doing what most people do, that is to say we listened to some resolutions and you will have to make your own! 150 words, diary style for next Friday please.

We then continued by working on your oral expression and you have to prepare a 5minute speech about one of the two notions we have studied in class and send it to me by email. Don't forget that you have some very useful information in your text books on pages 244-245.

Week 14 Monday 17th - 22nd 2012

After doing a bit of revision around certain structures and expressions on Tuesday you spent the following two hours in evaluation on Borderlands, both in written and oral comprehension.

Don't forget that you have to write a letter during the holidays. Think about the layout and of course the contents. You should write atleast 200 words.

Week 13 Monday Dec 10th - 15th 2012

This week you did an exercise on text information sharing, how to write an essay and a letter. Some of you gave in your essay on Minority Report. Don't forget I will accept this until Monday, final delay with minus points because of it being late.

You were given some language exercises to do, make the most of them since they could help you in your expression work. We will go over these quickly next Tuesday.

You will have your test on the sequence on  Wednesday and Friday.

There will be a written  expression exercise as homework, don't forget!

Week 12 Monday December 3rd - 8th 2012

This week we started off at the cinema on Tuesday morning then I only saw half of you on Wednesday. What happened? On Friday there were 5 absent! Certain arrived late but must have had too many late points to come into class.

We talked about Minority Report and you were given a written composition to do on the subject for next Friday December 14th. Then you had a listening evaluation about a Mexican who had passed over into the USA illegally.

Finally we started working on two texts about the experiences of immigrants whilst crossing over and then once in the country.

Be ready to talk about them next week.

Don't forget to bring your memory sticks to help you with your listening. We can copy some recordings for you.

Week 11 Monday Nov 26th - Dec 1st 2012

We spent three hours listening and working on an oral document describing the Americo-Mexican border. You have to write up, with the help from your worksheet as much as you can about this well-watched place for next Wednesday. We will be continuing with another listening, this time the testimony of an illegal immigrant.

Don't forget there is your cinema outing on Tuesday morning at L'Etoile at 8.45 at the latest. The session starts at 9 o'clock. THOSE WITHOUT AN AUTHORISATION OR WHO HAVEN'T PAID WILL GO STRAIGHT BACK TO SCHOOL!

Week 10 Monday Nov 19th - 24th 2012

What a bitty  week this was with the Physical education tests then some of you absent again on Wednesday. One thing was positive though, you should all have a text book officially!

So what did we do? Yes we started on a new sequence, Borderlands by analysing two visual documents, a comicstrip and a map.

Be ready to give back this information next week.

Don't forget your next cinema outing on Tuesday Dec 4th AM. I'd like you to bring your auithorisation and the money from 4 of you next week please!
