Through protest song lyrics at Woodstock, to propaganda films financed by the army, The Green Berets with John Wayne as director and actor and Hanoi Jane ( Fonda ).
This was the last case study of the Cold War period. Next week we will rediscover the USA after this period 'til 2003 then you will have a triangular speech exercise before your finals at the beginning of May.

This week we finished working on Maps and the UK dealing specifically with the north/south divide in connection with language, music and so on. This was quite interesting to do and although I couldn't fully agree with everything said, that must be my northern stubborn streak, I did try to show you how biaised some of the sources were!!! Think about that if ever you have maps to comment on.

Week 12 Monday December 1st - 6th 2014
This week we finished off the work on Alan Turing before moving on to the broader topic of the memories of the British soldiers.
I did mention that there is a good article in the latest issue of Time about Alan Turing which focuses on the man himself and invites us to go and watch the new film based on his life entitled The Imitation Game. We will have to keep a look out to see where and when it can be seen!
You have to finish off the remaining documents on the soldiers of WW2 for next week.
