Week 22 Monday March 10th - 15th , 2014

This week we finished off Seats and forms of Power and started on Space and Exchange . We worked on some oral documents as well as visuals. I likewise asked you prepare a text which we will study on March 31st.

I am so sorry but on March 24th there is the meeting for the teachers about your CO / PO finals and the next day I am involved in the CAMBRIDGE for the 2nd Euro class. I have however given you some work to be getting on with and I suggest that some of you volunteer to do one of your speeches on one of  the notions infront of the others. I really think this could be a good and enriching experience for all concerned.

See you on March 31st but do come and pick up the CE/EE before then!!!!

Week 21 Monday March 3rd - 8th 2014

Welcome back! Only one hour this week for three of you who deigned to turn up for the lesson on Tuesday morning! Thank you boys for your investment in your lessons.

We finished off, apart from an oral which you will have next Monday, the notion of Seats and forms of Power. We only have 5 hours of lessons left before your CO/PO final exams so I advise you all to be regular.

See tose of you who feel inclined on Monday.

Week 26 Monday April 8th - 13th 2013

No lesson this week due to your exams.

See you next week.

Week 31 Tuesday May 29th- June 2nd 2012

This week you had your last evaluation, an EE about Nixon. One or two of you had made the effort but the others.................. Having finished that I gave you your averages for the term and commented. We then started a bit of general revision by working on a former exam paper.

Week 30 Monday May 21st-26th 2012

This week we finished off the work on Nixon rather laboriously then started reading an old bac paper. You will have you last evaluation bac style next Tuesday afternoon. Be ready for the expression.

Week 23 Monday 19th-24th 2012

This week we finished off working around gun violence in the USA by talking about a poll carried out in the States concerning the causes and remedies of such behaviour.

You als had a CE on Wednesday morning, exam style!
Don't forget next week you'll have the EE on Wednesday morning on the same subject, so be ready!

Gun violence

Here is the extract from 'Bowling for Columbine' that I promised you:

Enjoy!!!

Week 20 Monday February 6th-11th 2012

This week we continued working on Gun Violence in the USA by finishing off the descriptions of the cartoon documents then by listening to Elvis Presley's, In the Ghetto. This song is an example of what gun  violence can do to teenagers.

You were asked to read a text on  Bowling for Colombine, a documentary film by Michael Moore and watch the cartoon explanation , found in the same film, as to why the Americans bear arms.

Be ready to talk about all of this after the winter break.

Week 19 Monday January 30th- February 4th 2012

This week we saw each other only 2 hours due to the mock oral exams. We corrected your last test and started a new topic, Gun violence in the USA.

We will continue with this next week. I had asked you to finish analysing the visual documents so that we could forge ahead next week. PLEASE BE READY.

Week 17 Monday January 16th-21st 2012

This week you had four hours of English in all due to the conference you attended on the subject of Immigration. We continued working on this very subject finishing off On the Threshold...., then finishing with Immigration, a source of our Strength.
We will be finishing off this text on Tuesday morning. In the other lessons of the week you will have an evaluation on the subject bac-style in preparation for your mock exams in a few weeks time.

Week 16 Monday 9th-14th January 2012

This week we continued working on Immigration by exchanging the information we had found in the two different texts. We then started working on The Threshold of a New World, by Mark Helprin. We introduced it then worked throiugh it bit by bit. You have to finish off reading the text for homework and complete the exercises 1-5 on the work sheet I gave you.

Week 15 Tuesday January 3rd_7th 2012

Having made our resolutions we went over the last comprehension test and commented on your dialogues.

We then moved on to a new sequence namely Immigration to the USA. Once we'd finished off the introductory work you'd started before the holidays we did an information sharing activity. You were given two different texts which you had to read in two groups then question each other to find out what your information was. One of the texts was about the waves of immigration and the other dealt with the practices on Ellis island.

You managed to find the general info from each text.

Week 11 Monday Nov 21st-25th 2011

This week we started by exchanging information about the three main film industries then we studied the text entitled , Welcome to Nollywood.

You seem to have understood the text fairly well, which is a good sign. However, some of you are still relying on the others to do the work. Join in and become more responsible, you are all capable!

Don't forget to learn the lessons and do the matching exercises for next Tuesday.

Week 9 Monday Nov 7th-12th 2011

What a difficult week some on you seem to have had because of the CE on a news subject which I had promised you before the Halloween holidays and the EE cover letter which I said you could prepare at home!!!!

Next week we will be starting on a new theme. I hope that Romain and Nassr-Edin are ready for their current events topic.

Week 7 Monday October 17th-22nd 2011

This week you worked rather well finishing off the text The Big Issue: mind the gap year then comparing examples of cover letters for voluntary work.

You have to be ready to write your own cover letter for November 8th.

Happy Halloween!

Last Week Monday 8th-12th June 2009

We were only supposed to have one lesson together on Monday morning but I didn't see anybody !

Hope you're all working hard and that I don't have the pleasure of your company next year !
You can come and visit whenever you like though !!!!

Good luck ,
Mrs Diallo

Week 35 Monday June 1st - 6th 2009

I only saw you in class once this week due to the bank holiday and other things beyond my control . I was pleased to see that a few of you are still coming and are working well on the texts .

Your 'conseil' was on Friday so if I don't see you next Monday keep working hard .

I will keep my fingers crossed and will probably be stressing as much as you in the next few weeks .

GOOD LUCK !

Week 34 Monday May 25th-30th 2009

There are fewer and fewer of you attending class . With those who show up we work on former texts inorder to give you a good overall view of the different type of topics which you could have on D day !

The last one I handeed out on Friday was from 2009 !

I will see you perhaps on Thursday , if not Friday morning for sure .

Keep working hard and regularly !

Week 33 Monday, May 18-23 2009

This week we continued our work around the text about Faye and Anne and since I didn't see many of you on Monday , because of your sports exam, we worked in different groups each to his own rhythm .

We will be working on a different text next week .

Week 32 May 11-16 2009

We saw eachother only twice this week since on Monday I was involved in the TSTG orals . So we discussed your last tests , CE and EE then started working on the techniques you must not forget for your coming final exams .
The text we is an extract from a novel about a family in which a mother, Faye, and her daughter, Anne have finally forgiven eachother for past behaviour and are starting out on a new footing .
