This is to be the last post of the year seeing as how you nolonger have class as such. Those who are willing, wanting and needing can still come along on Friday morning to do some basic English. Don't forget you need to secure a 12/20 for yourself in the English exam to be able to make the most of your European mark.

Week 27 Monday April 28th - Saturday May 3rd 2014
This week we finished off your programme so you'd be ready for your European orals next week. We also gave you your 'passport' to these in the form of a list of themes you'd covered this year aswell as all the extra activities you'd been involved with.

Week 25 Monday March 31st - Saturday April 5th 2014
Only one lesson this week in which you finiushed off your speecvhes on the crises during the Cold War. I gave you some work to prepare for April 29th. Don't forget there are only 2 lesson hours left before your orals.
For those of you who went to YORK please complete your scrapbook, be ready with a clip to promote the section and sort out your weirdest photos for the week we get back after the holidays.

This week we listened to your speeches on the crises during the Cold War. There are still two to go so be ready for next week.

Having finished listening to your oral productions on the UK in Maps we started working on your sketches. We'll pick this up next week.

This week was a rather busy one for you what with the work you did on WW2 then the speeches on The UK in maps. Don't worry you're not doing too badly and will pull through in the end with flying colours! You will survive in the classroom....., oops! sorry I got carried away.

Welcome back and Happy New Year!
This week, in depleted numbers because of various outings, we recapped on a war hero, Alan Turing, then continued on the memory of the soldiers after WW2.
On Friday we began on the Blitz by viewing a news reel on one of the first major bombings by the Luftwaffe.
We'll pick this up next week.
Week 13 Monday December 9th - 14th 2013
This week we worked on The King's Speech, a film in which George 6th is faced with both his speech impediment and WW2.
In three extracts, towards the end of the film, we saw how the King fought to be ready for the fight.
We then worked on the Alan Turing situation and decided that it was not fair what had happened to him.

Week 12 Monday December 2nd - 7th 2013
There were no classes this week because of class meetings and the Upper Sixth cinema project.
We'll resume the work next week.
Week 11 Monday November 25th - 30th 2013
This week we only had a lesson on Friday due to class meetings. We continued working on WW2, an overview. We then talked more generally about the period and let you listen to a song by Arthur Askey, a singer of the time, in connection with the Blitz and the populations reaction to it.
We will pick this up a week on Tuesday because of various class meetings and the cinema outing.

This week we finished off the unit on New York then started on our first history chapter : WW2.
We started by loooking at an overview on the subject, found in a British sixth formers' text book .

This week we worked on the last part of the topic New York. You had to make a plan using the documents given . We started going over this work and will finish it off next week.

This week we finished off going over your preparation on New York then on Friday you did your auto-speeches X 3. We will talk about these next week.
Week 7 Monday October 14th- 19th 2013
This week we continued working on the study of New York. You will have to finish finding ideas for the speech for Nov 6th. You also made the acquaintance of Jaimie, our American assistant. Some of you will be working with her every Friday from now 'til the end of the year in order to prepare the second part of your final exam, namely the interview. Make the most of it to be ready!

This week we only saw each other once when some of yoU gave your first individual speech. Well done. Jaimie, the American assistant was rather impressed. This is a good sign especially since she herself comes from New York!
