This week we finished working on the Environment thenyou organised an end of year party on Friday.

Have a nice holiday !

Week 31 Tuesday May 29th- June 2nd 2012

This week we finished working on the environmental theme then you had your final evaluation of the year.

Week 30 Monday May 21st-26th 2012

This week we watched the trailer of the film An Inconvenient Truth in which we learnt about all sorts of natural catastrophes provoked by pollution. It is us who are polluting the planet and the film maker wanted to warn us about our dangerous acts.

Having understood the film we worked a little around the language of graphs. I informed you that you would have to create a flyer about pollution, in which you must incorporate a small graph, and explain your point of view to the rest of the class.

Week 29 Monday May 14th-19th 2012

Only one lesson this week in which you had a dictation on the words concerning the environment we'd seen last week!

It was, indeed, quite something to see...... but an extremely interesting and useful exercise even if I say so myself.

We will continue working on the environment by watching a trailer next Tuesday.

Week 28 Monday May 7th - 12th 2012

This week we saw each other twice. We went over the work on Meatrix and the environmental quiz, then
went on to talk about Earth Day and the problems facing the world today by exchanging information about different visual documents.

By so doing we managed to pull out such a lot of vocabulary. So to check on all of this be ready for your dictation next Friday!

Don't forget that I am involved in the STG oral exams next Tuesday and that next Thursday is a bank holiday.

Week 26 Tuesday April 10th-14th 2012

This week we continued working around 'Billy Elliot ' and other young people experiencing wonderful, delightful things. You also had your final task on the subject on Friday.

Have a good rest during the holidays BUT COME BACK READY TO ATTACK THE LAST FEW WEEKS OF SCHOOL WITH GUSTO!

Oh dear, I almost forgot to upload the MEATRIX films for you to watch. ENJOY and be ready to talk about them on May 10th.
                                                        Meatrix 1 or Ace

Meatrix 2

Meatrix 2 and 1/2

Don't forget to note down one or two ideas about each  visual document. I could very well ask to take them in!

Week 25 Monday April 2nd-7th 2012

We have been using and trying to understand the present perfect all of this week! We started on Tuesday and still today Friday we are working on it. Billy Elliot and his family have helped us to understand partially if ot completely how it works.

Your teacher too, that's me!, who started working in your school 12 years ago and is still here now has been working in Jacques Brel for many years!

We will continue with this next week when we will be able to say:

We have been working on this same topic for a few weeks! ( Think about it!!!!! )

Week 24 Monday March 26th-31st 2012

This week we got well into Billy Elliot and his generation gap, social, economical problems. We started with a text, Not for Lads which we compared to the film version afterwards. The former you have to hand in next Tuesday, April 3rd. Then we watche ddifferent parts of the film and followed through the evolution of the relationship between Billy and his father towards his passion for ballet.

Mr Elliot didn't agree with Billy at first then he does so he has changed his mind.
Billy is at the school for an audition but he nolonger wants to audition, he has changed his mind too.
The family is/are waiting for the postman, Billy's letter is on the table so the postman has been.
Billy went to London to audition and returns home to wait for the news. He has received the letter and has got the place.

Watch part 10 again to see what happens exactly and be ready to talk about it next Tuesday:

Don't forget your written comprehension exercise for Tuesday too!

Week 23 Monday March 19th-24th 2012

This week we finished working on the text about Tim and in the group session we worked in more detail, pulling together our knowledge, on a written expression exercise namely a diary entry or a letter to an agony aunt.

You had to do your own on Friday in class.

Then on Thursday we started working on another example of generation gap by viewing the trailer and the first part of Billy Elliot.

Be ready for the recap at the beginning of next lesson.

Week 21 Monday March 5th-10th 2012

This week we started working on a new sequence, Generation Gap. We looked at a visual document and a text. You had some exercises to complete at home. We checked these on Friday. We will continue with this work when we see each other again on Tuesday March 20th.

I gave you back your last year group tests. Don't forget too bring the week of the 20th.

Will see most of you on Sunday night for the trip to England, 23.30 behind the school.

Week 19 Monday January 30th-Febuary 4th 2012

This week we continued working on the subject of crime with a dialogue, a report and a story ! You are expected to produce all of these different written expressions, individually or in group work by the end of next week. Some of you have such imaginations!

Looking forward to reading your productions.

Week 18 Monday January 23rd-28th 2012

This week we started by working around how to present and  write a dialogue in our group session. Then in class we started suggesting who might, may, could , must or can't have committed a crime, do something wrong  or be doing/ going to do something they shouldn't! Quite a programme I confess! However we will be seeing all of this again in the next week or so.

Don't forget to learn your lesson.

Week 17 Monday January 16th-21st 2012

I only saw one of the groups this week due to the conference organised for the  Upper sixth pupils. In the class sessions we continued working on our subject of crime , putting forward more or less plausible hypotheses , interrogating and the like.

We will continue with this next week.

Week 16 Monday 9th-16th January 2012

This week we managed to finish off one sequence and begin another on Crime. Inorder to do so we fistly played a whodunit game to introduce the specific vocabulary then we described certain characters in a murder investigation.

You have to read the information for next week and suggest who you think is guilty of murder, giving of course their motives.

Week 15 Tuesday January 3rd-7th 2012

This week, once we'd made our New Year's resolutions , we finished off the work on proportionality and link words, left over from before the holidays. We then plunged into a final text on the multicultural subject, taken from the adaptation of Bend it like Beckham, when Joe goes to meet Jessminder's parents to try to persuade them to let her play in the team since she has potential.

We clearly understood her father's position, that he had played in Nairobi but hadnot been allowed to be part of a cricket team when he arrived in Britain. He didn't want Jess to be disappointed.

I asked you to write a summary of what you'd understood.

Week 14 Monday Dec 12th-17th 2011

This week in the group serssions and part of a class we listened to your La Courneuve Kid speeches in which you were informing, in groups or individually, the rest of the class about your family, origins, religion, food, hassles and gang Britkid style. You did some verty nice work indeed!

We then checked over the link word exercise and on Friday you had a multicultural party where we sang Happy birthday to Jessica too!

Have a nice holiday.

Week 13 Monday 5th-10th 2011

This week we started by sharing your information about Britkid. You will be doing La Courneuve Kid next week.
On Thursday and Friday we worked around figures, proportions and quantities.

You have some exercises to do for next week, don't forget! There is the exercise about link words to check over too.

See you then.

Week 12 Monday Nov 28th-Dec 3rd 2011

This week we started working on Brit kid in the multimedia lab. You had to chose one of the teenage characters and find out about him/her concerning his family origins, tastes in food, religion, hassles, gang and so on. We will continue with this work next week. Your final task will be to create a similar French kid exposé for yourselves!

On Thursday and Friday we worked on numbers and then 'A Funny Kind of Englishman', by Hanif Kureshi.
You got quite a lot out of this text, I was pleased with you. Continue this fruitful work, it is encouraging.

Don't forget there will be a mini number dictation next week so revise your numbers!

Week 11 Monday Nov 21st-25th 2011

This week we spend the group session working on listening material which youn exchanged on Friday.
We finished off the work on the introductory pictures and photos and started on figures. The fizz/buzz activity was rather well done though one or two of you still owe us a forfeit!

We will continue with this next Thursday. During the group period we will be in the multimedia lab.

Week 10 Monday 14th-18th Nov 2011

This week we started with your exposés on your Inventions then having explained, talked about, commented on this work and that of the first term we started a new sequence namely Multiculturalism.

We will comtinue with this next week.
