Week 9 Monday , Nov 10th to Saturday , Nov 15th

After our initial recap on Monday we read and analysed the poem by Langston Hughes entitled A Dream Deferred . The rather vivid sore and rotting food images disgusted more than a few of you !

We then had time to listen to A Change is Gonna Come , by Sam Cooke . This , I asked you to listen to for homework , to view the clip I had shown you , which you can find on this blog , and try to find the names of some of the important characters in Black American history .

On Thursday you had your written test on the American elections .

There was only one of you for the group lesson because of a field trip organised by one of your teachers . We worked together around some photos which showed the evolution of the situation of the black population in the States . You have to create a dialogue , 250 words , set out correctly , between a young child of picture five and his or her grandmother concerning the removal of a black family to the white suburban neighbourhood ! Have fun !!!
