Friday April 2nd a group of teachers, pupils and our assistant went to meet the American Ambassador in La Courneuve. Yes in The Jean Houdremont Centre people of different social standings and origins came together to talk about ART in its widest sense and the influence of American art in particular.
The new American Ambassador flew in direct from Washington where he had just attended the meeting between Presidents Obama and Sarkozy. The interview was extremely casual and warm. The Ambassador promised to come back to the suburbs bringing with him American film and music artists .
After the interview we were invited to watch the musical Ain't Misbehavin' featuring students of an American highschool, Mc Donough 35, of New-Orleans and those of a lower secondary school of La Courneuve. The Americans, students of Troy Poplous, teacher, singer and director, were invited by the producers of Banlieues Bleues to perform in this year's festival.
