Week 19 Monday January 26th - 31st 2009

This week we finished of fthe work on The Visitor then got back into Don't Send me Back , a text about immigration but that of a Russian Jew at the beginning of the 20th century !
We learn that he is passed from immigration officer to doctor , from room to room , like an animal . The last doctor he sees , however , is described as human , handsome and somewhat kind . He must be from a family whose members passed through Ellis Island at some time in the passed and he obviously understands Jacobs anguish and stress !

Then we started our final document entitled Immigration a Source of our Strength , this you have to read and prepare the vocabulary for next Monday .

I took both of the groups during the group lesson since our assistant was on a course organised by Fullbright . We listened to the first part of an historical documentary about immigration , the different waves and origins of the immigrants . I hope it gave you some extra information .

You will be having your test on Immigration next Friday , February 6th . It will be a comprehension exercise but you need to be aware of the general background .
