C.S. Lewis and The Chronicles of Narnia

There are seven books in all in the enchanted world of The Chronicles of Narnia namely , The Magician's Nephew , The Lion , the Witch and the Wardrobe , The Horse and his Boy , Prince Caspian , The Voyage of the Dawn Treader , The Silver Chair and finally The Last Battle .

Clive Staples Lewis , their author , was born in 1898. He was a good friend of J.R.R. Tolkien , the author of the Lord of the Rings trilogy and they were both part of the Inklings , an informal writers' club which used to meet in a local pub to discuss story ideas . Lewis was fascinated with fairy tales , myths ,and ancient legends and much of his inspiration was drawn from his childhood .

Prince Caspian the fourth of the Chronicles is the story of a prince who , having been denied his rightful throne, fights for his crown . He gathers a 'strange' army in a desperate attempt to rid his kingdom of a false king . However in the end, it is a battle of honour between two men alone that decides the fate of an entire world .
