We will not begin here to question Shakespeare's definition , I am not qualified enough for that , not yet at least ( that's humour ) , however what I would like you to do is consider the following question :
What exactly do you understand when you hear the expression ' British humour ' ? Do you think , oh no not again or do you smile to yourself thinking , what fun here we go again ? Whatever, this post is about British humour , something rather special , but a MUST ! So do bear with me and enjoy what is to come . Watch the following videos and decide for youself in what way they are funny .
How is the humour built up ?
Of course one could not talk about British humour without mentioning Mr Bean , a former member of an Oxford college !
Watch the following video taken from You Tube , where you will find many more of the same kind . Mr Bean , originally from the North East of England , has managed to capture the essence of British stupidity in all of his works . He symbolizes the English man's capacity to laugh because of and at himself ! Something which many nationalities find it hard to do !!!!
In this video Mr Bean , as a tourist , acts as a tourist , gets away with all sorts of touristy type behaviour only to be thrawted by the more traditional changing of the Guards !
You should watch Mr Bean swimming , Mr Bean in the Hotel room , Mr Bean meets the Queen , and Mr Bean in Hospital . They all reveal certain aspects of the British way of viewing things whilst at the same time laughing at them !!!!

The following is Part 5 from Much Ado about Nothing , one of the bard's comedies . You will find the movie on You Tube . It is worth trying to watch it all because you will witness a mixture of feelings including love , humour , jealousy and treachery .
Now to finish , here is an example of humour used to incite people to buy something . Yes it's a commercial ! What is it appealling to exactly ? Would you be inclined to buy this product after viewing such an ad ? WHATEVER your reaction , enjoy it and of course don't take it too seriously !
